Santa, the Salty Dog & South Beach Inn!
One of our favorite holiday family traditions in December is visiting Santa at The South Beach Inn in South Beach Marina. Normally one of the busiest areas on the Island in the summer, during the winter months the Marina in Sea Pines takes on a slower pace, giving Gray (23 months) room to roam free. He loves to point out each of the boats, kayaks and canoes, run on the docks and see the famous South Beach Parrots.
Coligny Beach Park Named a Best Family Beach!
I was thrilled to read in my June issue of Parents magazine that our very own Coligny Beach Park was name #2 Best Family Beach! The editorial staff at Parents researched and waded through over 1,000 different U.S. beaches to find the top 10 best beaches that are kid-friendly and also fun for adults. Coligny Beach offers something for everyone; whether you have little kids or teens…it truly is the hub of the Island’s beach activities.
Dining Out, Family Style
For new parents, taking your child out to eat for the first time is a milestone. A family dinner at a restaurant can be daunting even for experienced parents. Will your kids like anything on the menu? Will they have a meltdown and disturb other patrons? Will they spill lemonade all over the floor? There’s no doubt about it, toddlers don’t always make the best dinner companions.
K is for Kite
On a recent day at the beach, my 3 year old son spent a better part of the afternoon watching (stalking) a group of college kids fly a stunt kite, and jumping up and down chanting K is for Kite. He was fascinated with the colorful kite and the way it ripped through the windy sky with such power. They gave him a nod then looked nervously at me. I wasn’t sure if they were concerned about his safety or the safety of their beautiful kite.
