Sea Turtle Season in the Lowcountry

Every year between May and October, sea turtles visit the beaches of Hilton Head Island. Sea Turtle Patrol Hilton Head Island works hard every morning and evening during nesting season to protect sea turtle nests and ensure the hatchlings can make a safe journey from our beaches to their new ocean home. 


Beaches and Parks of Hilton Head Island

From the ocean to the high water mark, all beaches surrounding Hilton Head Island are public. Public beach access is provided at the following locations: Alder Lane Beach Access, off South Forest Beach Drive; Coligny Beach Park, off Coligny Circle; Fish Haul Beach Park a on Mitchelville Road; Driessen Beach Park at the end of Bradley Beach Road; Burkes Beach Access at the end of Burkes Beach Road; Folly Field Beach Park, off Folly Field Road; and Islanders Beach Park, off Folly Field Road. The Town of Hilton Head Island has implemented parking fees. Be prepared to pay cash or credit card at all beach locations.

Accessible Beaches

Enjoyable for All

Alder Lane Beach, Coligny Beach Park, Driessen Beach Park, Folly Field Beach Park, and Islanders Beach Park are all equipped with mats to make them wheelchair accessible. The Beach Wheelchair Program offers rentable wheelchairs at Islanders Beach Park and Coligny Beach Park, so everyone can enjoy the world-famous beaches of Hilton Head Island.
