Since its inception in 1989, the mission of the Catawba Cultural Preservation Project has been to 'preserve, protect, promote, and maintain the rich cultural heritage of Catawba Indian Nation, the only federally recognized tribe in South Carolina and one of two federally recognized tribes in North Carolina. Part of the work of the Cultural Project, and the larger work of the Catawba Nation has been to mend our broken food system. During this talk citizens of Catawba Nation, Roo George-Warren and Kassidy Plyler, will talk about both traditional and resurgent Catawba food systems.
