The Canary of the Swamp: Prothonotary Warbler Conservation at Beidler Forest and Beyond
Coastal Discovery Museum 70 Honey Horn Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926
This virtual program, presented by Matt Johnson, Center Director at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary at the Francis Beidler Forest, will focus on recent work involving Prothonotary Warblers at Audubon's Francis Beidler Forest and beyond. The "swamp canary" is a cavity-nesting songbird that breeds in forested wetlands of the eastern United States. Each fall, this tiny bird migrates thousands of miles to Central and North America each spring. Audubon South Carolina has played a key role in habitat protection, public engagement and emerging research related to this iconic wetland species.
