Hilton Head Island Festivals & Events You Can't Miss This Year

There’s a party on Hilton Head Island—several, actually—and you’re invited. We can always find a reason to celebrate in Lowcountry, and 2019 is no exception. We’ve rounded up six festivals and events you can plan your next Hilton Head Island vacation around. So, go ahead. Pick your party, and we’ll see you soon.

The 23rd Annual Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration: January 31 – March 2, 2019

For those who want to learn more about the traditions of the Gullah people of Hilton Head Island and the Lowcountry, February is a month when you’ll want to plan a visit. All month long, you’ll have the opportunity to taste, listen to, and learn about the rich history of the Gullah people. Events and festivities abound in the month of February during Hilton Head Island’s Annual Gullah Celebration. Some of the most notable events include the Arts Ob We People Annual Art Exhibition And Sale (the largest juried presentation of Gullah Heritage Art in the world; free and open to the public beginning February 1, 2019 from 10am-4pm Monday – Saturday; 2pm-5pm Sundays) at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, the Taste of Gullah culinary showcase on February 9, and the Gullah Market at historic Honey Horn on February16, 2019. Hilton Head Island Seafood Festival: February 18–24, 2019

Calling all (sea) foodies! This family-friendly, weeklong culinary celebration highlights the best seafood, cocktails, and wines Hilton Head Island has to offer. Sample dishes from celebrity guest chefs including James Beard award-winning Chefs Barton Seaver and Anthony Lamas. Nibble on heavenly barbecue from the South’s best pitmasters after learning a few tricks of the trade. Dig into hands-on cooking demos, or get out on the water for instruction on shrimping, clamming, oystering or crabbing. The choice is yours. Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival: March 11-17, 2019

For more than 30 years, guests from all over the world have flocked to Hilton Head Island for this culinary cornerstone event. If good wine and delicious Lowcountry cuisine tickle your fancy, this event is for you. Attending the Grand Tasting—the festival’s most exclusive celebration—is an event not to miss. You’ll also want to check out the Sip and Stroll, which combines sipping wine and strutting through the shops of Harbour Town—two of our favorite things.

Hilton Head Island St. Patrick's Day Parade: March 17, 2019

Don your best green outfit and get ready to celebrate all things Irish at South Carolina's oldest parade! Every March, thousands of spectators line Pope Avenue for the Hilton Head Ireland St. Patrick's Day Parade. Founded in 1983, the parade has grown to become one of Hilton Head Island's most beloved and popular annual events, with music, floats, and maybe a surprise or two along the route! 

The 51st Annual RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing: April 15-21, 2019

There’s no question that RBC Heritage week is one of the most popular times to visit Hilton Head Island—and for good reason. This special PGA golf invitational brings famous players, a family-friendly event calendar, and a whole lot of plaid to Hilton Head Island. In fact, this particular tournament is dubbed “the most fun and fan-friendly stop on the PGA TOUR schedule!” If you’re still not convinced RBC Heritage is THE event to attend in 2019, here are six things you can’t experience by just watching it on TV. Start shopping for your best plaid outfit, and we’ll see you in April.

Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival: October 12-20, 2019

If you’re visiting Hilton Head Island in the fall, this makes for a great day trip. One of the biggest highlights of Lowcountry in the fall is the Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival. Calhoun Street, the core of Bluffton’s historic district, comes alive with live music, seafood vendors, libations, activities for the kids, local art, and even barbecue for those that prefer turf to surf.

Concours d’Elegance: October 25–November 3, 2019

Planes, watercraft, automobiles…this event has it all. A multi-day motoring festival, the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance is one of Lowcountry’s premier events. Many of the most exclusive and exciting showcasing of precious automobiles happens right here on Hilton Head Island. If you’re a car lover, or just love the finer things in life, this annual event is one to mark on the calendar this fall.
