Here are 10 Family-Friendly Activities on Hilton Head Island.

The Beach

If it’s a beach vacation you’re looking for, America’s Favorite Island® is just the place. With 12 miles of beachfront on the pristine Atlantic Ocean, Hilton Head Island is home to some of the most incredible beaches in the US. Coligny Beach Park, once named the best family beach in the country, is the perfect place to enjoy the sun and sand with your little ones.

Lowsea Bike, Beach, and Baby Rental has you covered for all of your beach day needs. You can rent everything you need for a relaxing day of soaking up the sun, including chairs, umbrellas, and more. You can even rent baby gear to ensure your babe has just as much fun as you do. For the big kids and kids at heart, Beach Play Company has custom packages to help you bring the ultimate Hilton Head Island beach experience to life.

Dolphin Tours / Skiff

The only thing more exciting than having an up-close and personal experience with the local wildlife in their natural habitat is experiencing it from a two-person Skiff Boat! Island Skiff Adventure Tours offers a riveting dolphin tour where you can drive your own skiff boat and navigate through the waters of Hilton Head Island, Broad Creek, May River, Bluffton, Bull Creek, and Daufuskie Island with a local guide. Children as young as five can ride along as passengers. Be sure to bring a camera for photo ops and rare opportunities to see dolphins, local birds, oyster beds, and other wildlife.

Ziplining & Go Karting

If you have some adrenaline junkies in your family, Adventure Hilton Head has just what you’re looking for! With multiple exhilarating activities to choose from, there’s no shortage of fun to be had. Those who feel the need for speed can head to the outdoor go-kart track and race like a pro in their single and double-rider karts.

Fly high through the skies of The Lowcountry on an unbeatable zipline tour that will take you across seven ziplines, a swinging bridge, and a spiral staircase through the trees. You’ll also get a chance to take in the scenery from the highest viewpoint on Hilton Head Island. If you want to get your heart racing but aren’t quite up for a zipline tour, don’t miss out on the Aerial Adventure. You’ll climb through trees on their high ropes challenge courses. The courses have four different levels of difficulty, so there’s something for almost everyone in the family!

Bike Rental

One of the loveliest and most environmentally-friendly ways to experience The Lowcountry with your family is by bicycle. Hilton Head Island is home to 60 miles of public pathways that are open to bicycles. Families can head over to Hilton Head Bicycle Company to rent a bike and explore. They offer bikes, trailers, and baby seats, as well as free locks and baskets with your rental.

Golf

If you’re coming to America’s Favorite Island® to play a round of golf on one of the many iconic courses, the kids don’t have to miss out on the fun! If the children are new to the game, head to the Sea Pines Resort and check out their Junior Golf Programs. Young golfers will be taught the tricks of the trade by their team of professionals, and they’ll be hitting the green in no time!

Head over to Pirates Island Miniature Golf Course for some all-ages family fun. Kids will be enamored with the nautical theme, and they can learn pirate stories along the way! Prefer to practice your swing in a climate-controlled environment? Try Chronic Golf & Games full-swing simulator for an experience everyone will love.

Reptile Tour

If you’re hoping to sneak some fun and interactive learning into your vacation, take your little ones to the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn for the Reptiles & Amphibians of the Lowcountry tour. Kids will learn about the critters’ critical place in our ecosystem and how to interact with local wildlife safely.

Art Cafe

Creative youngsters will love the paint-your-own pottery activities at Art Cafe. They have hundreds of items available as a blank canvas for the kids to let their imaginations run wild! Located above Rockfish Seafood & Steaks, there is porch and patio seating available. You can even nibble on some scrumptious snacks while you paint your heart out.

Horseback Riding

If your children love animals, then a horseback riding experience is the perfect activity for your family vacation on Hilton Head Island. Lawton Stables at Sea Pines Resort offers western-style trail rides for adults and children eight years and older. Younger children can have the time of their life on a pony ride or head over to the small animal farm and hang out with goats, cows, potbellied pigs, chickens, and more.

The Sandbox

The Sandbox is an interactive museum where kids lead the way through play and get to learn at the same time! With engaging activities and fun-filled play centers, the kids will be sure to have an incredible time, and they might just make some new friends along the way. The Sandbox is open to infants and children up to the age of eight.

Pirates of Hilton Head

One of the most unforgettable family adventures in The Lowcountry can be found at Pirates of Hilton Head. Kids are transformed into the Pirate Crew as they set out on a search for sunken treasure on this fun and interactive Pirate Cruise! They’ll learn how to talk like a pirate before heading out on the Calibogue Sound to fight Stinky Pete and beat him to the treasure.
