HHI Carolina Shag Club - Dancing

The Hilton Head Island Carolina Shag Club is dedicated to promoting the Carolina Shag Dance and having a lot of fun in the process.  Carolina Shag is the official state dance of South Carolina.

The Shag Club hosts Friday night Socials most weeks year-round. The Social Dances are from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. at Dolphin Head Golf Club, 59 High Bluff Road, Hilton Head Plantation. There is a $5 floor fee.  Anyone who loves to dance is invited to attend – ballroom, swing, country, line, singles and out of towners are welcome!

Beginner and Intermediate group Shag lessons are offered during the Fall and Spring. The group lessons are four weeks long and free with membership in the Shag Club.  Club membership dues are $30 per year.

The Shag Club also gives back to the community through funds raised at its annual Winter Classic event. Generally held in January, the Winter Classic is four days of shag dancing, beach music, food and entertainment.
