SOBA Presents "Moments of Stillness" Featuring Artist Carol Dulude

The Society of Bluffton Artists (SOBA) invites the community to experience Moments of Stillness, a featured artist exhibition by Lowcountry painter Carol Dulude, on view June 1 through June 27 at SOBA's new gallery location in Old Town Bluffton.

An opening reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. June 4, offering guests the opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy an evening surrounded by her calming, nature-inspired works.

Dulude, an acrylic painter based in South Carolina's Lowcountry, is known for her serene landscapes that capture the quiet beauty of coastal environments. Her work is deeply influenced by her upbringing in Canada and years spent in Massachusetts, ultimately leading her to the tranquil marshes and waterways of the Southeast. Beginning her artistic journey in retirement, Dulude approaches painting as both a creative pursuit and a contemplative practice.

Through soft color palettes, expansive horizons, and subtle transitions of light and atmosphere, her paintings reflect the peaceful interplay of water and sky. Each piece invites viewers to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the simplicity of the natural world.

"My acrylic landscape paintings focus on creating calm, quiet spaces that invite reflection and stillness," said Dulude. "Using subtle color palettes and soft transitions, I aim to capture the peaceful atmosphere found in natural environments. Acrylic allows me to build gentle layers that suggest light, distance, and mood. Through these landscapes, I hope viewers can pause and experience a moment of tranquility."

This exhibition continues SOBA's tradition of showcasing regional artists while fostering a welcoming space for creativity and connection within the community. Visitors are encouraged to explore the gallery's new home at 7 Church Street and experience the same vibrant artistic spirit in its refreshed setting.
