The Hilton Head MLK Committee for Justice Presents Circle Unbroken: Gullah Journey from Africa to America a full-stage musical and experience. We Invite you to step back in time with the nationally acclaimed ensemble Aunt Pearlie Sue & The Gullah Kinfolks.

Celebrating the roots and significance of the history and richness of the Gullah Culture, Circle Unbroken recounts the story of enslaved people brought from Western Africa, predominantly Sierra Leone, who contributed to all aspects of life. Through their geographic isolation and strong community life, the Gullah people have been able to preserve their African cultural heritage, including their creole language similar to Sierra Leone Krio. Award winning storyteller, Aunt Pearlie Sue & The Gullah Kinfolks bring this profound era of American History Alive.

Proceeds from this event will support various Hilton Head MLK Committee programming such as our annual MLK program and luncheon, student awards and service projects.
