Hilton Head Island & Cadence: Connected Through Travel and Natural Beauty
Walking the Talk
Pristine beaches. Miles of bike paths. A stunning diversity of wildlife. One visit to Hilton Head Island and you immediately know why we work so hard to protect our beaches, waterways, and wildlife. Did you know America’s Favorite Island® is also America’s first eco-planned community? It should come as no surprise, then, that a coastal paradise designed in harmony with the natural world also actively works to safeguard it, a vision that naturally extends to the organizations we work with. Beautiful things happen when we encounter others who share our passion for sustainability.
Enter Cadence, makers of the Genius Modular Travel System and champions of sustainable innovation. When Cadence decided to host their team off-site, they were looking for a destination that mirrored their commitment to thoughtful design, environmental responsibility, and community engagement. With our pristine natural beauty, rich history, and dedication to conservation, Hilton Head Island was the perfect fit. Over a week of coastal bliss, Cadence’s team experienced firsthand how our shared values translated into unforgettable adventures, experiences you can only find here on Hilton Head Island. From exploring the Island’s unique ecosystems to delving into our profound history, every experience was carefully curated to reflect the very essence of Hilton Head Island. Inspired by Cadence’s experience on the island, this itinerary captures the essence and highlights of their stay—reimagined to spark your own journey to discover America’s Favorite Island® in a way that’s both meaningful and uniquely your own.
Day 1: Welcome to Hilton Head Island
First off, arriving at your destination airport is a delight at Savannah/Hilton Head International (SAV), the #1 airport in the United States by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure. Serving travelers to and from Savannah, Hilton Head Island, the Golden Isles, Brunswick, Bluffton, and surrounding areas across the Lowcountry and Coastal Georgia, the airport is a quick and easy drive to the heart of Hilton Head Island.
Then it’s time to check in. Hilton Head Island offers a range of places to stay, but like the Cadence team, you might be traveling with your extended family or group of friends and looking for a spectacular villa with a private pool just like the one they stayed at with Island Time Distinctive Vacation Rentals.
Or maybe the beachy beauty of the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa is where you want to wake up. That’s where some of the Cadence team stayed and met during their trip.
After settling into your accommodations, head to Poseidon rooftop bar for the Sunset Happy Hour Celebration and unforgettable coastal dining.

Day 2: Slow & Steady
It’s time to meet some of Hilton Head Island’s most important seasonal residents—the endangered loggerhead sea turtle. A Turtle Talk with Amber Kuehn from the Sea Turtle Patrol HHl, a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to protecting and conserving sea turtles on Hilton Head Island, shares the organization’s important work to protect sea turtles and preserve the beaches where they nest. A mission that is shared by the Cadence team, which partners with organizations to collect plastics off beaches used to make their travel capsules.
After an all-around rewarding day, everyone enjoyed a classic Lowcountry Boil, thanks to an incredible private chef experience with Board & Basket.

Day 3: Hilton Head Island Icons
Looking for a new perspective on Hilton Head Island? Experiencing it from the water is a truly unique experience that showcases the best of the Lowcountry. With some of the warmest waters on the Eastern Seaboard, our friends at Outside Hilton Head are the perfect guides for unforgettable outdoor adventures such as a dolphin tour or stand-up paddleboard session. Master naturalists help you spot a variety of wildlife, namely the resident Atlantic bottlenose dolphins that live offshore, and teach you about their natural habitat and the unique marine ecosystem of the Island. There’s no better way to appreciate Hilton Head Island to its fullest than by experiencing it from the water.
After fueling up with a nourishing and delicious lunch catered by Healthy Habit, explore Hilton Head Island by bicycle, from winding trails to beautiful beaches, where our shorelines beckon to discover a dynamic world of its own.
A visit to Hilton Head Island isn’t complete without a trip to the iconic Harbour Town Lighthouse, a local institution that is recognized worldwide, where you can explore the rich history of the Island and climb the 114 steps to be rewarded with panoramic views of the Lowcountry. Worked up an appetite? That’s easily satisfied at the recently renovated and redesigned Quarterdeck right next door, the perfect place to enjoy a stunning Hilton Head Island sunset, especially atop the rooftop oyster bar with its 270-degree views of Harbour Town and Calibogue Sound.

Day 4: The Story of Freedom
The location of the first freedmen community established during the Civil War, Mitchelville Freedom Park was once a vibrant, self-governed community and is an important part of the story of native islanders, the Gullahs, one of the most culturally distinctive African American populations in the United States. Stroll the park and landmarks to learn about this important piece of history.
At dinner, it’s time to continue diving into true, Lowcountry culture. Our visiting friends from Cadence loved their experience at Hudson’s Seafood House. The sea-to-table experience is delicious and served in front of a stunning backdrop, naturally designed for photos.

Day 5: All In Good Fun
A “Hilton Head Institution” since 1979, Palmetto Dunes General Store is a must on every itinerary. Famous for its fried chicken, as well as a selection of beer, wine, and gifts, we recommend breakfast and a freshly brewed cup of coffee on your way to to the beach, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, or the The Palmetto Dunes Tennis & Pickleball Center for a little friendly competition or just a round of pickleball fun before wrapping up your time with us here on Hilton Head Island.
And finally, remember to wrap up your trip with relaxation. Take in a morning beachside sunrise with a quiet stroll, calming yoga, or a leisurely bike ride to soak up our beautiful natural setting one last time.

Sustainability is in our nature. It’s woven into everything we do, touches the places we share, and informs the organizations we choose to work with. Hilton Head Island and Cadence were brought together through the shared values that guide how we each operate.
Feeling inspired? Plan a trip that connects you to your surroundings, immerses you in the Lowcountry lifestyle, and allows you to experience the world in a way you can only find here.
