Each session begins with a lecture on the history and cultural significance of this cherished art form, followed by guided instruction as you create your own quilted piece to take home.

Meet Cookie Washington

A fourth-generation needleworker and celebrated textile artist, Cookie is known for preserving African American quilting traditions through education, storytelling, and art.

In May 2026, she was honored with the Golden Scissors Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to the quilting community and her lifelong commitment to preserving this important cultural legacy.
