The weather’s getting hotter, why not your wardrobe? Spring fashion is in full bloom, and Hilton Head stores are stocked with the trends you absolutely must get your hands on.
The gals at the new retail shops at Shelter Cove Towne Center have some tips to help you spring into spring:
Bright colors are really big, says Francesca’s manager Beth O’Gorman. We’re talking borderline neon here. Bright hues like coral and cobalt are prominent in the dresses at Copper Penny and lemon yellows and lime greens pop on the polos at Coastal Provisions.
The bright color scheme extends into accessories, too, O’Gorman said. Francesca’s candy-colored earrings and necklaces would match bright separates, or stand out if paired with a white or neutral outfit.
2. Bold prints
Whether its geometric designs or tribal details, expect to see bold prints everywhere. Fun printed shorts are great to pair with solid color tanks, says Christina Dzendzel at Coastal Bliss. Copper Penny has the Mara Hoffman line, which has tons of bright prints inspired by nature. For a Hilton Head-specific look, go for beach-inspired prints like pineapples, flamingos or palm trees.
3. Elastic waists
Hurray for being comfortable!
“We don’t have anything too tight” Dzendzel says. Everything flowy and oversized is in. That means rompers, jogger pants (a hybrid of regular pants and sweatpants that cinch at the ankle) and wide-legged “party” pants are all popular looks, as are the elastic-waisted printed shorts.
The boho-chic style from last year is carrying over to this season, Francesca’s O’Gourman reminds us. So whether you lean toward hippy or preppy, everyone can enjoy the airy, light, flowy styles this spring and stay cool into summer.
4. Dresses, dresses, dresses
Kind of obvious, but you can’t have enough dresses with all the festivals and events going on, not to mention Mother’s Day and graduations coming up. You’ll see a lot of maxis at Towne Center’s stores, which are great for a casual night out. For something a little dressier, off-the-shoulder dresses or dresses with cutouts are good options.
5. Coastal casual
It’s a way of fashion life in the Lowcountry, but especially so when it starts to warm up outside. Because the beautiful Hilton Head environment allows us to be so active, clothes that reflect the coastal lifestyle are a must.
“It’s all about embracing the coastal lifestyle,” says Molly Clayton, retail manager at Coastal Provisions.
Coastal Provisions specializes in outfits that transition from beach to Sunday brunch and from boating to dinner out. Plus, their turtle logo is so cute!
Hammitt is the hot new purse that all the celebs are holding right now, say Copper Penny’s Kristi Spaulding and Mary Margaret McGaughey.
The bags are 100 percent leather with lots of metal hardware finishes. You may have seen Annie Verret, girlfriend of Masters winner and RBC Heritage competitor Jordan Spieth, sporting a different Hammitt bag every day of the Masters.
Little Fish Boateak
Everyone is talking about the handcrafted jewelry from Hilton Head local Lissy Rawl. Her jewelry features a combination of gemstones, pearls, sterling silver and gold fillings. Little Fish Boateak bracelets are available at Coastal Provisions.
