Hilton Head Islanders, Blufftonians and Guests Gather to Celebrate the 240th Birthday of the United States of America!

Monday, July 4th is Independence Day and the Lowcountry turns out for the big day with celebrations and fun for the whole family. The festivities start early in the morning, at 8:00 a.m., with the Firecracker 5K Run and Family Fun Walk at the Shelter Cove Community Park. Enjoy live music and ice-cold refreshments following the race. The children’s parade at Sea Pines starts at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin at 8:30 a.m. and The Old Town Bluffton Annual Children’s Fourth of July Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on Calhoun Street. The community fireworks on Skull Creek begin at dusk (about 9:00 p.m.) with parking, music and great food and drink at the Chart House, Hudson’s on the Dock, and Skull Creek Boathouse.

Shelter Cove Harbour is the site of the HarbourFest Fourth of July fireworks and festivities, featuring music from Shannon Tanner from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The fireworks display begins at 9:30 p.m. Make reservations at your favorite Hilton Head Island restaurants on the harbour for a night of delicious food and good music.
Fourth of July fireworks at Harbour Town has been an Island event for over forty years and has become a family tradition for generations of Sea Pines residents and guests. Catch Gregg Russell’s family-friendly music show at the Liberty Oak from 8:00-9:00 p.m. and the fireworks display over Calibogue Cay, beginning around 9:00 p.m. The Crazy Crab restaurant on the harbour is a great place to start the evening’s Independence Day celebration.
Coligny Plaza is always the place to be on Monday nights after a day in the sun and surf at Coligny Beach. For a family-friendly Fourth of July join the fun beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Center Stage featuring The Magic of Gary Maurer. Have a hot dog and an ice cream and celebrate this great American holiday!
