A very special attraction for little ones on Hilton Head Island just finished up its’ second season. The Enchanted Forest at Honey Horn, sponsored by the Lions Club of Hilton Head to benefit the Lion’s Tail took place last weekend. The Lion’s Tail is a guide rope for the visually impaired throughout the Honey Horn property, designed to connect with nature.
The enchanted forest was geared toward the childrens 3-7 crowd, although Joe and I had a fabulous time with Gray (22 months)…with plenty of activities for all the kiddos to do.
We entered one of our favorite spots on the Island, Honey Horn and off to the right was a giant field for parking. The entrance to the forest was on the left and the tractor rides were to the right – tractor rides through the forest during Fall – how fabulous!
Susan Barnwell, President of the Lion’s and her club came up with the idea last year….they wanted to create a fun atmosphere for kids to enjoy the Halloween Holiday, all while benefitting the visually impaired! The forest they created had an obstacle course, pumpkin bowling, snacks for FREE, a wooded area with arts and crafts, storytelling and much more!
The entire event was so well thought out and put together. I want to thank the Lion’s Club for allowing for families, like mine, to make lasting Halloween memories on Hilton Head Island!
Insider Tip: Make sure to come early and enjoy the forest first but be aware, the line for the tractor gets quite long at the end of the night! And this event is packed full of fun. We stayed two whole hours!
