Don’t worry. This is not going to be another countdown-to-slim-down piece about getting ready for bikini season. Instead, this is an itinerary on how to feel “fit-tabulous” in 5 days mind, body and soul-wise—and on beautiful Hilton Head Island, nonetheless.
Morning: For breakfast, fuel up with a protein smoothie from Pure Natural Market, DelisheeYo or Smooth. Then hit Coligny Beach with a HIIT workout and do something simple like a few warm up yoga stretches on the beach followed by three rounds of a five-minute run, one minute of walking lunges, one minute of holding plank position and one minute of tricep dips and concluding with a few cool down yoga stretches. You can rinse off in one of the single-person cabanas and then stroll around the variety of shops in Coligny Plaza.
Afternoon: For lunch, there are several great spots to get a bite in Coligny. My two favorite healthy plates are the fish tacos from Big Bamboo and the Greek salad from Market Street Cafe. And, because chilling out is also great for your health, rent an umbrella from Shore Beach and relax the remainder of the day away.
Night: For dinner, head over to Piggly Wiggly, get picnic goodies and enjoy a romantic meal on the beach.
Morning: Breakfast at Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe is a must and healthy options include building your own omelette and the smoked salmon plate. For today’s exercise try playing tennis with a friend or three or getting a private lesson. There are several great courts on the Island.
Afternoon: Lunchtime head over to Java Burrito, which offers organic, antibiotic-free, preservative-free options, usually from local growers. Then take the short ride over to the Audubon Nature Preserve for a relaxing walk.
Night: End the day with dinner and a movie night. Char Bar’s build your burger options allow you to create something that’s delicious that feels decadent, but isn’t. My top pick is the grilled chicken breast on a lettuce bun with onion, tomato, avocado, goat cheese and sriracha. Then walk to Park Plaza Cinema where they have a full bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks—including a wide varieties of tea. I like to get the ginger tea because it helps with digestion.
Morning: Take a yoga class at Jiva Yoga Center. You will want to check out the class schedule online but know all the teachers are amazing. Nearby is DelisheeYo and the breakfast Buddha bowl is a great way to nourish your body post-workout.
Night: See where the wind/bike takes you.
Afternoon: Lunch at Red Fish always feels so luxurious, especially when you sit outside. My favorite is the light but filling crab and shrimp salad.
Morning: Get a massage—after all you deserve it. There are several great spas in the area.
Afternoon: Keeping with the massage-theme, try the massaged kale salad from DelisheeYo (I like mine in the rice paper wrap) with a juice or alkaline water and then book a paddleboard lesson with an outfitter like Soul SUP, H20 Watersports or Outside Hilton Head.
Night: This is your last night so it’s time to splurge and get the absolute freshest seafood on the Island at Hudson’s Seafood. Depending on the season, you will find a variety of Lowcountry flare options.
