Table & Tee Time for two getaway

With its array of award-winning restaurants, boutique accommodations and women-friendly golf courses, Hilton Head Golf Island is the perfect golf getaway for couples who love the game.

Day One

Arrive in Bluffton around noon and enjoy lunch at one of the many local establishments in charming Old Town. For a taste of the South, check out the Calhoun Street Tavern where a Shrimp Burger or Pickled Brined Fried Chicken Sandwich awaits. Wash it down with a slice of Key Lime or Chocolate Brownie Pie and set out for some golf, Lowcountry style.

Burn off the calories with an afternoon round at Hilton Head National or Old South Golf Links. Designed by Gary Player and Bobby Weed, Hilton Head National plays 4,682 from the forward tees and to a slope and course rating of 112 and 66.4, respectively. Clyde Johnston designed Old South Golf Links, which checks in at a playable 4,776 from the forward tees.

Check-in at the Old Town Bluffton Inn, a 14-room boutique hotel adorned with custom French Heritage furniture. The inn is owned by Vince and Danielle Harrison, who have called Bluffton home since 2011. Venture out into Old Town for dinner and then grab a nightcap at the quaint lobby bar and recount the day’s events while looking forward to tomorrow’s round.

Day Two

Cross over to Hilton Head Island and grab a breakfast burrito and coffee brewed from locally-sourced beans at the Java Burrito Company in the Village at Wexford. Owners Michael Fekete and Frederika Liene Hakansson use only the freshest local organic ingredients, showcased throughout the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Catch a mid-morning tee time on famed Harbour Town Golf Links at The Sea Pines Resort. Architects Pete Dye, Alice Dye and Jack Nicklaus made sure this iconic layout was equally accessible for men and women; Harbour Town features three sets of tees rated for ladies: white (6,253 yards), gold (5,867) and green (5,084).

Enjoy a late lunch by the Atlantic Ocean at Coast at the Sea Pines Beach Club. In addition to lunch entrees, Coast offers sandwiches, sharables and quick bites ranging from Southern-style hush puppies to flash-fried calamari. A full raw bar is also available with oysters, shrimp, crab legs and sashimi.

Rest and revitalize at your accommodations for the night, the Inn and Club at Harbour Town, ranked as one of the Top 10 Hotels in the country by U.S. News and World Report. For dinner, saunter over to Links, An American Grill on the first floor of the Harbour Town Clubhouse. Links is known for its steaks and wine list, so don’t be afraid to deviate from seafood on this evening.

Day Three

Log a final round of golf on one of the island’s many outstanding couples-friendly layouts. For those catching an afternoon flight from the Hilton Head Island Airport, Oyster Reef, a Rees Jones design, is conveniently situated just five minutes from the airport. Grab a quick bite at Lagerhead Tavern before departing.

If you’re leaving the island on U.S. Route 278 Business, the three 18-hole layouts of Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort (Jones, Hills and Fazio), as well as the Heritage Golf Collection’s Shipyard Golf Club and Port Royal Golf Club are sprinkled along the corridor and offer the perfect close to an unforgettable couples golf getaway.
