Presley loved running races, she especially enjoyed the ones where she kicked her mother’s butt. Had she known we’re running in her honor she would’ve been thrilled.
The outdoors were a special place for Presley. She was a competitive girl who loved track, mountain biking, swimming, snorkeling and fishing. She was very adventurous and always enjoyed a challenge.
In addition to her many outdoor achievements, she loved baking, learning Chinese, painting, and being with her friends. She had many gifts but the real reason she was loved and adored by so many is the simple fact that she was loving, kind, caring and fun.
In 2013 The Miller family rescued a greenback sea turtle that had been cold shocked and named “her” Amelia. Amelia was rehabilitated at the Sea Turtle Hospital located under The Charleston Aquarium. Presley and her family had the privilege of releasing her back to the ocean. The proceeds from this race will be donated to The Sea Turtle Hospital.
We run for you Presley.
All seven species of sea turtles are listed as threatened or endangered. This is a reflection of the growing issues surrounding coastal development and ocean conservation. To help ensure that sea turtles have a future in our oceans, the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care Center™ aids sick and injured sea turtles in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).
