The Heyward House, built in 1841, is located in the heart of Bluffton’s Historic District, and serves as the official Welcome Center for the town of Bluffton. The house museum offers guided tours of the 5-room Carolina farmhouse, which is filled with interesting artifacts and furnishings from the 1860’s through the 1930’s. Guided tours of the historic house museum and grounds are available Monday-Saturday upon request and include a presentation about the people who build and lived in the home, and the early history of Bluffton as a growing planters’ summer resort. Tours last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, and cost $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 10 & under. Any visit to Bluffton should begin at the Heyward House, even if you need a map and some lunch spot suggestions!
