About the Event
This is a unique opportunity through the Coastal Discovery Museum to be on a 2-hour scientific research cruise to study acoustic communication between resident dolphins in the May River and their prey. Yes, fish use sounds to communicate too! While USCB researchers from Dr. Montie’s Lab visually identify and record dolphin vocalizations, marine biologist Captain Amber Kuehn will share what we have learned about these fascinating cetaceans and their prey. This 2 hour exploration of Bluffton’s May River is aboard research vessel SPARTINA and is offered in collaboration with the University of South Carolina Beaufort.
Reservations are required and may be made by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223. Cost is $55 per person, for ages 10 and older only please.
