Our peaceful setting belies the many energizing activities the Island offers. Opportunities for meeting guests to bond, team-build and forge meaningful connections are everywhere. Of course, we are synonymous with world-class golf and pristine beaches, but we also boast some of the Southeast’s finest saltwater fishing, kayaking, birding, biking, hiking and sailing to name a few. Those guests who enjoy cultural pursuits will delight in our exceptional theater and symphony performances as well as the active artist and writer community that makes its home here.
For a community its size, Hilton Head offers an impressive number of cultural possibilities. You can take in a Broadway-caliber show at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, enjoy a performance of the highly-rated Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, explore the galleries of dozens of local artists or take part in the vibrant Gullah Celebration and scores of other community festivals.

Home to 24 courses and the annual Heritage Tournament in Harbour Town, Hilton Head Island’s golf community has something to offer every group. From specialized classes and trainings to group outings, our fairways are well suited to any level of player. With Hilton Head's sub-tropical climate, sunny skies and lush green fairways, the destination boasts a year-round golf season. Golf enthusiasts will delight in the wide and scenic fairways of the Island's courses, created by golf's most preeminent architects. George and Tom Fazio, Arthur Hills, Rees and Robert Trent Jones, Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, George Cobb, Gary Player, Fuzzy Zoeller and Willard Byrd have all left their distinctive mark on the championship courses.

Tennis
Five major tennis centers boast more than 100 courts, for both public and resort use. And while the favored surface here is clay, hard and grass courts are also available, as are indoor and lighted facilities. Legendary tennis instructor Dennis Van Der Meer has helped to serve up Hilton Head Island tennis to players around the globe by founding his own teaching university on the Island. Likewise, Wimbledon champion Stan Smith also calls Hilton Head Island home and can be found, from time to time, displaying his famed techniques at the Sea Pines Racquet Club. And the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center has been ranked among the Top 50 U.S. Tennis Resorts by Tennis magazine.

Hilton Head Island provides nearly 80 miles of pathways and nature trails which pedestrians and cyclists may enjoy. In addition, the Island boasts 12 miles of the world’s finest beach. Low tide is an ideal time to enjoy the coastline by bicycle.

A variety of public boat marinas are located throughout Hilton Head Island. Many charter boats are available for rental as well as excursion tours. Popular tours include kayaking, dolphin-watching tours, fishing charters, dinner cruises, eco-tours, and even day trips to Savannah, Georgia. The VCB also has a list of recommended adventure companies.

Inspire your kids’ creativity with shells and sandcastles as they frolic on the wide shores of Hilton Head Island beaches. Bring your kids to the newly remodeled Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, which offers a butterfly pavilion nature tours and cruises, as well as Island history and ecological programs. While at the museum, learn about the rich Gullah history of the South Carolina Lowcountry, through art displays and an interpretive, historic bus tour.
In the evenings, make a trip to the picturesque Harbour Town Yacht Basin, where you can climb the famous candy-striped lighthouse, savor a delicious ice cream cone, and enjoy the delightful lyrics and songs sung by renowned musician Greg Russell, who has been entertaining children in Harbour Town for more than 30 years. Or, from June through August, your family can also listen to an outdoor concert by Shannon Tanner who has performed at Shelter Cove for more than 20 years. Shelter Cove Harbour is also home to a brilliant summertime fireworks display. In addition, each of the hotels and resorts offers exciting camps and activities for children all summer long.

There are numerous live entertainment venues, both indoors and out. The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina offers Broadway musicals and classical performances, art exhibits and festivals year-round. The Jazz Corner specializes in jazz and blues, with a variety of artists performing weekly. For late night libations, Hilton Head Island offers numerous nightclubs and lounges, from sports bars and beach bars to the chic XO Lounge at the Hilton Oceanfront Resort or the Metropolitan Lounge at Park Plaza.
