The year’s biggest party is around the corner and we have all of the inside scoop
It’s time to get the plaid out of the back of your closet as the Island’s biggest celebration of tartan and, of course, golf quickly approaches. And as you plan out your time at the 2014 RBC Heritage presented by Boeing, April 14 – 20, make sure you don’t miss the best seat in the house.
At #Social Central (formerly the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce’s Social Media Lounge) you can share all of your great moments from this year’s tournament. Post photos of you out on the course on Facebook and Instagram (but keep in mind cameras are prohibited on the course during official tournament play, Thursday – Sunday), tweet about the autographs you just nabbed as golfers come off of 18 and share your location to meet up with friends. Share all of your Heritage experience with the hashtags #RBCHeritage and @HeritageSelfie. The lounge, open from 10am to close of play Thursday – Sunday, will feature televisions, streaming social media content and tourney telecast as well as free charging pads for tournament goers to charge their cell phones. Plus, an added bonus, while you’re tweeting and enjoying the Lounge, perfectly situated on the iconic 18th hole nestled amongst the 18th Fairway Hospitality Tents in the Heritage Lawn, you might take home some free goodies. Last year, I scored a great pair of sunglasses!
Other great, not-to-miss spots along the course include other stops on the Heritage Lawn such as the RBC Fan Experience and the big screen Video Board where you can catch course-wide tournament action from the comfort of the Social Media Lounge. And, for those of legal drinking age, you won’t want to miss the Grey Goose Lounge (also on the Heritage Lawn), my favorite spot with its picturesque views of the Port Royal Sound and the red and white lighthouse at the Michelob Ultra 19th Hole situated just beyond the world-famous Harbour Town Golf Links’ 18th Green and the after parties in Harbour Town with live music daily and a sea of golf enthusiasts decked out in plaid at The Quarterdeck located at the base of the Harbour Town lighthouse. Don’t have your plaid? Make sure to stop at the merchandise tent next to the clubhouse to get your gear.
While it’s a party not to miss, it’s also exciting to see who will take home the title of the 46th annual RBC Heritage champion! Will Graeme McDowell defend his title? Will crowd-favorite and back-to-back champion in 2007 and 2008 Boo Weekley capture his third plaid jacket? Or will a new face and new champion be added to the list that includes names such as Palmer, Irwin, Watson and Nicklaus?
