RBC Heritage “Vibe” Wins Golfweek Praise

Those of us who go to South Carolina’s premiere party every year already know it but its special when others recognize just how different the RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing is from other stops on Tour, particularly the one the week before.

But what if you were anywhere else on the planet and your only connection to the party was the CBS/Golf Channel coverage over the four days of play last week.

One person who’s paid to watch it on the tube instead of live it is Golfweek’s Martin Kaufmann, for whom the Heritage coverage may have even eclipsed that of the mighty Masters.

“After the somber, oh-so-serious tone at Augusta, the shows from Harbour Town Golf Links felt light and airy and thoroughly agreeable. We’re watching a game being played; it doesn’t have to be treated like an audience with the Pope.”

He loved a couple of CBS’ technological innovations that visually explained why Harbour Town is different to play than other courses, particularly the graphic “Protracer” that can track the flight of a golf shot.

“..we really saw its value at Harbour Town, as it tracked Branden Grace’s low bullets that stayed below the tree line and out of the wind.”

And he couldn’t help but be taken by the Boeing flyover Saturday afternoon. “(It) might have given us the coolest sponsor integration I’ve seen, with presenting sponsor Boeing arranging for a Dreamliner to fly over. Pretty impressive to see such a large aircraft move so nimbly.”

And Kaufmann (@GolfWeek_Marty) never even sampled any of our Lowcountry cuisine, beverages, or hospitality. Maybe that’ll be next on his list. Read the entire story here at GolfWeek.com
