Lowcountry luxury is a necessity when it comes to being and feeling well. This week we’ll look at a few more Hilton Head and Bluffton businesses that put the “ah” in spa.

Island Medical Spa is a day spa and medical clinic operating under the care of trained professionals like an ophthalmic plastic surgeon, a micropigmentation specialist, and paramedical makeup specialist. Teresa, a licensed esthetician and the spa’s office manager, introduced me to the amazing-world of microdermabrasion-laser rejuvenation, which is basically better than the DeLorean in Back to the Future for people with skin-damage. Teresa also taught me about the Clarisonic brush that is like a skin-cleansing party in the shower.

She believes wholeheartedly in holistic and preventative health through the application of high-quality organic products and essential oils custom blended for her clients. She specializes in post-op healing by reducing swelling and bruising and she offers bridal party packages.

My 4-year-old daughter Ransom and I visited Seeds of Calm and entered into what felt like a magical world. Seeds of Calm owner Dorine has created an imaginative and tranquil environment that hosts children’s spa services on the first floor and adult services on the second floor. Ransom tried on vintage hats and sat in a chair made of teddy bears while getting her pedicure and I laughed and felt girly while getting mine.
*Note: The opportunity to sample all the different spas could not have come at a better time. As an outdoor enthusiast, mother of 3 under the age of 4, full-time student/part-time worker, and 30-plus-year-old (the “plus” happened while researching this post), my mind, body, soul and skin were long overdue for some TLC (or tender, love and complementary-services—thank you to all the participating spas!).
Be well, Becca
