Restaurant hospitality legend award
Herb Mitchell
Wild Wing Cafe, Hilton Head Island
![]()
"Legend" hardly expresses Herb Mitchell's experience with Wild Wing Cafes. Herb was one of the first employees at the original Wild Wing on Hilton Head, starting as a dishwasher in 1990 and working his way up to kitchen manager. According to director of operations David Clark, "Herb works harder than anybody, never calls in sick, always picks up a shift when you need him and always remembers the value of a dollar when it comes to running a kitchen." The restaurant chain has even named their chili, Herb's Buffalo Breath Chili, after him. Now with 31 stores, it comes as quite a compliment from David when he says "As we grow and open new stores and hire new employees, we realize what a rare find we have with Herb. We are truly lucky to have him!"
