Time to Peruse

The Gullah folk use “peruse” to mean strolling gently along, and letting your gaze fall where it may. That pre-dates the present English meaning, and describes perfectly what it’s like to shop on Daufuskie. Not a matter of examining, but rather strolling and gazing.

Antiques, souvenirs, a bottle of local commemorative wine, or something from the general store that just comes in handy. Finding them is one more pleasant way to spend your island time.
