Bicycling has become an important activity on Hilton Head Island. The well-marked and safe pathway network is extensively used by riders of all ages and abilities. Also, bicycling is promoted to residents through various local recreational bike clubs and informal groups. The primary interest for some clubs and groups is to use bicycling as a social means for people to get together and have fun. Rides are weekly, sometimes monthly, and are oriented toward the social side. Other clubs offer a mix of recreational rides for fitness and fun and still other clubs are for athletes who train for triathlons and organized running events.

Hilton Head Island is a cyclists’ paradise. More than 100 miles of public and private shared-use pathways connect to virtually anywhere on this special island, meandering through beautiful canopies of tall pines and live oaks. And there is ready access to 12 miles of bike-able, hard packed beach.

Rental bikes? Not a problem. Two dozen bike rental companies and most time share/hotel and condo accommodations offer more bikes for rental than any other resort community on the east coast, at competitive prices, delivered directly to your door. Where else can you arrive, park your vehicle, and take a complete vacation on bike or by foot.?
